LabelNest LN21^TM, is a 2.1-inch electronic display device that can be placed on the shelf and replaced the traditional paper price label. The E-paper display technology boasts a high contrast ratio, makes superior viewing angle at nearly 180°. Each device is connected to the FootfallCam 3D Max2^TM base station through wireless network. The changes or configuration of the price on the product can be adjusted via LabelNest Analytic Manager software and transmitted to the base station and to the label. The latest content can then be updated on the screen in real time basis with a more efficient way.

To prevent ESL label tag is damaged due to mishandling, below are some tips about the product.

1. The ESL label contain electrical circuit board which moisture and liquid will caused damage on it. DO NOT rinse the ESL label with water.

2. You may use dry cloth or tissue to clean the ESL label. If you are using wet tissue to wipe the ESL label, make sure it is dry out.

3. The idea temperature for operation environment is between 0°C to 50°C while for storage environment is between -20°C to 80°C. Parts and circuit board might damaged if it is used or stored under temperature extremes.

4. DO NOT place the ESL label near heat producing kitchen appliance such as stove, oven, or microwave.

5. DO not place the ESL label in the vicinity of highly pressurized containers.

6. Avoid using the ESL label in area with strong magnetism or storing together with magnetic objects because contact with magnetic object can lead to malfunction.

7.  Do not place or store the ESL label on a slope surface to avoid it falls off surface and causes damage.

8. Frequent communications, updates and screen renewals may reduce battery life time.

1.4 Battery Replacement

The battery status of ESL label will be shown in Label list in Analytics Manager. (For more information, please refer to Chapter 23: Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) Configuration - FootfallCam) If the battery level is low, user may replace the battery by following the following steps.

STEP 1 - Get the ESL label which is low battery from the shelf.

STEP 2 - Open the battery cover at the back of ESL label.

STEP 3 - Remove the batteries from the ESL label.

STEP 4 - Put in the new CR2450 batteries into the ESL label.

STEP 5 - Complete the process by closed the battery cover of the ESL label.

2.1 ESL Pairing on Mobile Application

This section focuses to guide user to pair the ESL tag and the product with Mobile Application "LabelNest".

2.1.1 Download LabelNest Application

STEP 1 - Search "LabelNest" in Google Play Store (for Android phone) or Apps Store (for apple phone)

STEP 2 - Download the application.

2.2.2 Pairing ESL and Product

STEP 1 - Open the LabelNest Application and click on the scanning icon. (Refer Section 2.2.1 to download the LabelNest Application)

STEP 2 - Scan ESL Label barcode at the back of ESL.

STEP 3 - Scan the product barcode or QR code to be paired with the ESL.

STEP 4 - Label Serial and Product SKU will be shown after pairing. Click Continue Scanning to continue next pairing.

STEP 5 - After pairing all ESL(s), click Back To Home to access Home Page, then click Update to update the pairing details to the portal.

STEP 6 - A device location request pop up will be shown. Click Allow to enable the application to use the location.

STEP 7 - If your mobile device is not connected to a FootfallCam counter Wi-Fi, :Phone is not connected to Counter" pop up will be shown. (If your mobile device is connected to FootfallCam counter Wi-Fi, you may proceed to step 9.)

STEP 8 - Open Wi-Fi setting in your mobile device, connect to the FootfallCam counter Wi-Fi then back to the LabelNest Application. (For more information, refer to Chapter 3: Device Configuration - FootfallCam)

STEP 9 - A success pop up will be shown on screen. Make sure all the product's status is Updated with latest update date time in the home page for pairing completion. 

1. Open the Application downloaded and select the scanning icon at the bottom right	2. Scan ESL Label barcode at the back of ESL.	3. Scan product barcode to be paired with the ESL.
4. Label Serial and Product SKU will be shown after pairing. Click Continue Scanning to continue next pairing.	5. After pairing the ESL(s) and return to Home Page select Update to update the pairing details to the portal.	6. Allow this application to use the locations.

7. This will pop out if mobile device did not connect to a counter Wi-Fi	8. Connect to counter Wi-Fi then back to the application.	9. Make sure all the products' status is Updated with latest update date time in the home page for pairing completion.

2.3 Reallocate ESL to Another Product

Users that would like to reuse an existing ESL label to pair with another product may proceed the pairing process in Section 2.2 for Pairing ESL and Product again. The latest information will be updated in the system after all the steps are completed.

LabelNest LN21™ is a 2.1-inch electronic display device designed, developed and manufactured in-house by FootfallCam UK Limited. 

LabelNest LN21™ contains in-house designed circuit board with the use Texas Instruments CC13X0 series wireless microcontroller (MCU), which enables using TI 15.4-Stack, an IEEE 802.15.4-based specification offered by Texas Instruments that provides wireless personal area network (WPAN) which supports AES 256-bit encryption while receiving data from our base station such as FootfallCam 3D Max2™, which also supports TI 15.4-Stack specification. The communication between LabelNest LN21™ and the base station is encrypted with AES 256-bit with unique key that are only usable and executable by these devices, thus LabelNest LN21™ cannot be intercepted by any external unauthorized connections. 

LabelNest™ Analytic Manager software is a web application hosted and located in FootfallCam™ Secure Central Server, which provides a platform for customer to manage both base station and label tag. You can learn more about the solution in Chapter 1: Overview. 

A.2 Data transmission process

A.2.1 First-time setup phase

During the 1st time setup phase, the base station will automatically scan for LabelNest™ devices that matches a range of MAC address. Once the LabelNest™ detected the scan from the base station, the LabelNest™ will attempt to determine the best frequency channel with the least interference. After determined the best frequency channel, the LabelNest™ will awake and standby for data incoming from the base station. The base station, however, will acknowledge and register the detected LabelNest™'s unique encryption key into it's own database. In addition, each LabelNest™ will have it's own unique ID, but it is not sharable to the base station. 

A.2.2 Operational Phase

By default, the base station is always connected to the LabelNest™ Analytic Manager software by calling RESTful API with HTTPS from the base station to the software. During this action, the base station will periodically request update from the analytic manager. 

Assume that a LabelNest™ has registered and paired to a specific base station via Analytic Manager, if an update to a LabelNest™ is found, the base station will retrieve all the required data from the analytic manager and stored into itself, and mark as ready for transmission once all required data is well received. 

The base station will then broadcast to LabelNest™ devices in range, which the data encrypted message, contains the unique ID of the target LabelNest™. Once the target LabelNest™ device receives the message, it will acknowledge and start receiving data from the base station.
